Mineral makeup is makeup stripped down to a few bare essentials, without the fragrances, dyes, and many other synthetic ingredients cosmetic companies have put in makeup for years. However, not every brand of mineral makeup is as pure or natural as it is advertised. Some companies add synthetic ingredients, yet still label the product as mineral makeup. The current trend in cosmetics, skincare, and nearly every product imaginable, is for all things to be natural and environmentally friendly. The cosmetic marketing industry has pounced on this, advertising the benefits of an all-natural product and the woes of a synthetic chemical. The truth is that some cosmetic companies produce mineral makeup with only natural, gentle ingredients. Whether the mineral makeup is all natural or not, if you are satisfied with the results, everyone is happy. Beauty Care Seen as First Step to Wellness - Supermarket News Posted: 26 May 2010 02:04 PM PDT CHICAGO — Beauty care is an integral part of today's health and wellness platform, said Thom Blischok, global president of innovation & strategy, SymphonyIRI Group here during a webinar on Wednesday on "Redefining Health and Beauty Care for Untapped Profit Potential." "The first stage of health and wellness is beauty," he said. "People want to look good to feel good. This is a major shift in thinking. Health and wellness is holistic and not about medicines only or beauty used in salons or the home. It is about a concept." The research presented showed that 92% of beauty care shoppers are brand loyal. However, they do seek value and 25% of them are shifting to lower cost channels. Blischok said retailers should position their departments as health, beauty, wellness rather than health and beauty care to take advantage of the shopper's focus on wellness going forward. The National Association of Chain Drug Stores hosted the webinar on the eve of its Marketplace Conference, June 5-8 in San Diego.
