Austin's style and beauty scene will march on without the support of Austin Fashion Week on Thursday.

Event planner Nichole L. Wright of Austin newcomer Bon Vivant is putting the finishing touches on a fashion show of Austin and global designers to support Austin Pets Alive.

Originally her plan was to have her event be part of Austin Fashion Week, she said.

However, there was a scheduling conflict: The Second Street District, which is run by AMLI, is a major sponsor of Austin Fashion Week, and had planned the shopping district's five-year celebration of events the same night.

In a recent interview, Wright said she approached fashion week founder Matt Swinney, former publisher of Rare magazine, about her event months ago, before the Second Street events were announced for the same night as her sartorial soiree. She said she and Swinney couldn't work out a sponsorship deal.

So the Fashion in Flight style show at the Mexican American Cultural Center on River Street will go on as planned, just not under the fashion week umbrella. (Think of this event like you would one of the unofficial shows of South by Southwest.)

Fashion week officials said they are aware that Wright's show will go on.

Tickets for the Fashion in Flight: The Collective show, which will use models from Wilhelmina Brown modeling agency, are $75 to $200. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the runway show starts at 8 p.m. For more information, click here.

You'll get to see designs from Tashia Senn (Washington D.C.), Yordanos Stefanos (New York), Dora Mojzes (Eastern Europe, Budapest), Davie Clothing (Austin), Tenielle Design (New York), Adriana Cobo (Ecuador) and Glamour Dog (Dallas).

Also, there will be accessories from Margot Wolf Jewelry (Austin), My Green Pillow (Arizona), Ana Reign Jewelry (Los Angeles and Austin) and NYC Chic handbags (New York).

Rare, which is now run by Taylor Perkins, is one of the media partners for the the event.

"I think we've put together something really fun that will be during Austin Fashion Week that hopefully won't take away from the other events," Wright said. "We're excited to do something a little bit different, and bringing pets on the stage is a little unusual during fashion week."
